Invisible Technology, Unforgettable Atmosphere
Mark Laird of Lairds of Troon, the integrator appointed to the project, understood the challenge intimately. In a venue where every surface, material, and detail has been curated with artistic precision, visible speakers would have been entirely out of keeping. The audio system needed to deliver consistent, high-quality sound across multiple distinct spaces, each with its own acoustic character, whilst remaining completely hidden from view.
The variety of spaces, from the intimate bar to the cavernous lecture theatre, the corridors connecting them, and even the washrooms, demanded a flexible approach that could adapt to each environment.
Sonance VP66R: Premium In-Ceiling Performance
Sonance VP66R in-ceiling speakers were specified throughout the Gin Palace, providing the discreet, high-quality audio that the project demanded. Eight units were installed in the bar, four in the laboratory, six in the lecture theatre, and 16 across the corridors and washrooms. The VP66R's refined sonic performance and minimal visual footprint made it the ideal choice for a venue where aesthetics are paramount.
Two Sonance 12.50 amplifiers provide the power for the system, delivering clean, reliable amplification across all zones.
Yamaha MusicCast and WyreStorm: Flexibility and Control
Eight Yamaha MusicCast WXA50 amplifiers provide zone-by-zone control across the venue, allowing each space to operate independently with its own source and volume level. The MusicCast platform's wireless multi-room capability gives the management team intuitive control over the entire audio environment from a single interface.
For video distribution, WyreStorm's MX-0404-HDBT-H2A-KIT 4K matrix was specified, providing a four-input, four-output video routing solution with HDBaseT extension. In the lecture theatre, an Epson EB-670 short-throw projector paired with a Celexon screen delivers presentations with clarity and impact, whilst Gallo Acoustics custom speakers provide supplementary audio for this space.
Technology in Service of Brand
What makes the Hendrick's Gin Palace project particularly noteworthy is the degree to which the technology has been subordinated to the brand experience. Visitors are immersed in the world of Hendrick's, surrounded by its distinctive aesthetic and philosophy, and the audio and video systems play their part quietly and flawlessly. There are no visible speakers, no obtrusive screens, and no technology that draws attention to itself.
This is the hallmark of truly excellent AV integration: systems that are felt rather than seen, enhancing the atmosphere without ever competing with it.
A Spirited Collaboration
The Hendrick's Gin Palace is a wonderful example of what happens when a skilled integrator, a discerning client, and the right product portfolio come together. Lairds of Troon's meticulous approach, supported by Habitech's product expertise, has delivered an installation that is as invisible as it is impressive.
