A Dual-Purpose Space with Exacting Standards
Michael Neale of Candor Electrical, the integrator appointed to the project, faced a brief that demanded versatility and quality in equal measure. The space needed to function as an immersive brand experience for visitors exploring the heritage displays, and as a fully equipped presentation and conferencing venue capable of supporting live events, video calls, and hybrid meetings. The audio had to be clear and intelligible for speech, whilst also providing an atmospheric soundtrack for the exhibition areas.
Habitech's John Perry was instrumental in the system design, specifying the products and creating the technical architecture that would bring the vision to life.
Sonance Professional Pendants: Commanding the Space
Twenty-three Sonance Professional Series P63 pendant speakers were specified across the space, providing even, high-quality audio coverage throughout the venue. The pendants deliver the clarity and intelligibility essential for speech reinforcement, whilst also providing the warmth and presence required for background music and atmospheric content in the heritage zones.
A Yamaha XMV8140 eight-channel amplifier powers the system, with a Yamaha MTX3 processor managing signal routing and zone control. Yamaha DCP-4V4S wall panels provide convenient local control points throughout the space, allowing staff to adjust levels and settings without returning to the central equipment rack.
Conferencing Excellence: Sennheiser and Vaddio
For the presentation and conferencing functionality, Sennheiser and Vaddio were specified to deliver a premium experience. A Sennheiser Team Connect Ceiling Array microphone provides discreet, high-quality voice capture across the presentation area, eliminating the need for handheld or lapel microphones during informal sessions. For more formal presentations, Sennheiser Speechline wireless lapel microphones offer the freedom and reliability that presenters demand.
A Vaddio RoboSHOT 12E PTZ camera captures the room with broadcast-quality precision, whilst a Vaddio 2x1 AV Bridge enables seamless integration with video conferencing platforms. All conferencing signals are distributed via Dante networking, ensuring low-latency, high-fidelity audio throughout the system. Yamaha VXL column loudspeakers provide additional reinforcement for larger presentations.

Habitech's involvement extended well beyond product supply. John Perry designed the complete system, working closely with Candor Electrical to ensure that every element was specified correctly and integrated seamlessly. Following installation, Habitech provided comprehensive training at the Basingstoke Experience Centre, ensuring that the Candor team was fully equipped to commission and support the system.
