Five Spaces, One Seamless Experience
The diversity of spaces within Mickey's Beach Bar presented a genuine design challenge. The main restaurant, the beach bar, the terrace, the balcony, the café, and the washrooms all required audio coverage, but each with a different character and volume requirement. The restaurant needed refined, background-level sound, whilst the beach bar demanded more energy and presence. The outdoor spaces needed to contend with wind and ambient noise from the seafront.
Habitech's John Perry designed the full acoustic specification, using Ease Evac simulation software to model coverage and ensure optimal speaker placement. The design went through four revisions to achieve the precision the project demanded.
Sonance Professional: Tailored to Every Space
The Sonance Professional Series was specified throughout, with different models selected to suit each environment. Six PS-P63T pendants provide elegant, warm audio in the restaurant, where they complement the refined interior design. In the beach bar, five PS-S83T surface-mount speakers, one PS-S43T, and two PS-S210SUBT subwoofers deliver the energy and low-frequency impact that the space demands.
The terrace and balcony are served by five PS-S63T surface-mount speakers, chosen for their durability and performance in semi-outdoor environments. The café features two PS-S43T speakers for subtle background audio, and the washrooms are covered by a pair of PS-C43RT in-ceiling models. This variety within a single product family demonstrates the versatility of the Sonance Professional range.
Yamaha: Reliable Power Throughout
The audio system is powered by Yamaha amplification, with two XMV4280 amplifiers, one XMV4140, and two PA2030 units providing clean, dependable power across all zones. This combination of amplifier models ensures that each space receives precisely the right level of power for its speaker complement, without waste or compromise.
The Yamaha platform's reliability is essential in a venue that operates throughout the year, in a coastal environment where equipment must perform consistently regardless of the conditions.
Expertise That Makes the Difference
The success of this installation owes much to the collaborative design process between Intelligent Abodes and Habitech. John Perry's use of acoustic simulation software ensured that every speaker was placed for maximum coverage and minimum interference, a discipline that is particularly important in a venue with such varied acoustic environments. The four design revisions were not a sign of indecision but of rigour, each iteration refining the specification to deliver the best possible result.
For Tim and Karen Chugg, the project has become a calling card, demonstrating the level of quality that Intelligent Abodes can deliver in the commercial hospitality sector.
